Problems
- Transportation infrastructure for vehicles and pedestrians is inadequate in the United States.
- Of the 10 most deadly highways in the US, 2 are in Florida according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
- I-95
- I-75
- There are not enough “Safe Havens” for professional drivers and the motoring public to rest.
- Driver education and training programs are elementary.
- The US economy is being negatively impacted by professional drivers leaving the industry due to poor working conditions/compensation/benefits and increasing driver retirement.
Priorities
- Modernize transportation infrastructure focusing on the Interstate Highway System and US Highways.
- Build more “Safe Havens” (rest areas, travel centers, and service plazas).
- Reduce fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads.
- “Raise the bar” on education and training programs for professional drivers and the motoring public. Change drivers thinking and actions to make safety the first thought not an afterthought.
- Promote professional truck driving as a fulfilling career that is vital to the US economy.
