Safety As Floridians Envision (SAFE)

Our Mission is to help make Florida become the safest state to drive, ride and walk.

Problems

  1. Transportation infrastructure for vehicles and pedestrians is inadequate in the United States.
  2. Of the 10 most deadly highways in the US, 2 are in Florida according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
    1. I-95
    2. I-75
  3. There are not enough “Safe Havens” for professional drivers and the motoring public to rest.
  4. Driver education and training programs are elementary.
  5. The US economy is being negatively impacted by professional drivers leaving the industry due to poor working conditions/compensation/benefits and increasing driver retirement.

Priorities

  1. Modernize transportation infrastructure focusing on the Interstate Highway System and US Highways.
  2. Build more “Safe Havens” (rest areas, travel centers, and service plazas).
  3. Reduce fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads.
  4. “Raise the bar” on education and training programs for professional drivers and the motoring public. Change drivers thinking and actions to make safety the first thought not an afterthought.
  5. Promote professional truck driving as a fulfilling career that is vital to the US economy.
